Hospitals, nursing homes, physicians and other healthcare providers at the forefront of the COVID-19 emergency have received financial relief under the CARES Act Provider Relief Fund. Payments are intended to offset costs and lost revenue as a result of the pandemic.

Recipients have agreed to submit quarterly reports to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) detailing how these funds have been used. HHS plans to issue reporting guidance around August 17. It will include instructions and the process for filing information on payments received by any healthcare provider for eligible expenses attributable to the coronavirus. These expenses may include supplies, equipment, facilities, technology, training, staffing and testing related to COVID-19 care.
