Most health care professionals recognize the importance of the patient experience and have made it a strategic priority to improve every touch point, from online portals to protocol for long-term care. The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology reports that nearly 85 percent of consumers who are offered access to electronic health records have used a portal to view their lab results, with another 62 percent using the tool for refilling prescriptions and scheduling appointments. Among the consumers who utilized online medical portals, 8 in 10 found them to be useful and easy to understand.
